How long does the battery last? I can't find anything on their site. I'm leaving on vacation and trying to figure out if I'll need the charger base.

Take the brush, if it dies, buy a 49 cent manual brush for the remainder of the trip.

mine last at least 30-40 brushes, its about 4 yrs old and going strong, I dont think the newer ones might not be as tough/hold charges well as the older ones.

Cool, seems like it should be able to hold the charge for a week an a half. By the way, I'm still puzzled at how the hell the charger works. That's pretty cool how it can charge with no metalic contacts.

Its called charging by induction.

This sounds about right. I went on vacation for 2 weeks and my soniccare lasted for 10 days before I had to dig the charger out. This is after brushing 2-3 times a day.

I use it twice a day and have no problem getting at least three weeks out of mine. It is only aboout a year old, so I guess it is "a new one." I do have it set on two min stop though. I use it 15 secs per quarter(ie. top left, top right...u get it) then turn back on for tongue and gums.I have never had to charge it any earlier than 20 days that I can recall. I agree that the inductive charging is pretty cool.
Thanks for the info...Imdmn04.

twice a day, a week (says so on the manual somewhere). I've had mine for over a year, and the battery has significantly died off.. it'll be real week towards the end of that week.

Wow - mine only last me about a week but it's about 4 years old. I'm considering buying a new one. Sams had a $25 off coupon a while back.

Yup. I usually only charge it every 10 days or so. The power outlet is usually used by cell phone charger until that 10th day. It's been at least 2 years and still going strong.

I just got one for Christmas and the manual said that it will last up to 2 weeks without charging.

I'm still trying to figure out how I lived before my Sonicare!

I must have had mine around 5 years. Got a double pack at Costco - came with one charger but two handles. Seems to me they are both going strong. I charge one, use it until it signals me that it's losing power (it beeps several times when you finish brushing, that's how it lets you know). At that point, I take off the head, clean it and set it aside and charge the other handle, the one that's been sitting around unused the last few weeks. That charge takes about 20-22 hours, so since I brush once a day, by the time I'm ready to brush, the handle's got a full charge (the light stops blinking and is steady on). Never counted, but I'd estimate that I get around 20-25 2-minute brushes (maybe more) out of a single charge using this swap method, brushing daily. My dentist said to use a bit of toothpaste about the size of 1/2 a pea.
