Any software that will password protect subdirectories

I have a removable hard drive that I use for backing up things like personal documents, financial info, etc. But I also use it to backup my MP3 collection (5000+), AVI's, Photo's, and iso files that I'd like to share with others. I'd like to loan it to other people, but I'd like to keep certain subdirectories private.

Is there some type of software that will allow me to select certain subs to password protect while at the same time leaving the remaining subs public?

The hard drive is 160GB NTFS and is in an external USB 2.0 enclosure.

Ideas?

PGP?

I use PGP or clone an image with Acronis True Image and password protect it. I'm sure there is other ways, but some sort of software may be needed to open the locked directories.
