any software out there for midi composition without a keyboard?

i know it sounds absurd, but i'd like to know before investing. i already know the notes, and i just want to "click" it down and play with it.

Most programs that have the ability to record midi data have piano rolls. Your creative ability is severely limited when you have to click notes though. Having at least 2 octaves to play around with makes stuff a lot easier, especially with melodies.
 
sibelius/finale work well. I think that they're pretty similar. I've used Sibelius before, and I think i saw Finale being used once or twice, and they looked very much so the same, but Sibelius came out with a nicer looking gui a year or so ago. that's about how much I know about them 😉
