no, it's normally 2, only the Giga 7DXR has 3. You need REGISTERED memory if you want to use more than 2 DIMM sockets at the same time. Means you have tou buy new memory, probably :) If you are new to DDR, no problem, REGISTERED is just a little more expensive and a litte slower, it's basically for servers. :)

Under normal cirumstances nobody needs more than 2x256MB, or? :)

I've just read Shuttle AK31 rev2 at ViaHardware.com, it looks good but it's using KT266 new revision.

What you mean but it using the KT266 chip? The new KT266 motherboards are beating out the Amd761's for the most part, See a review of the K7T266 at Dw3d.com. Anyway, back to the subject, yes the Ak31 does have 4 like statix said. I have't seen any others that will have 4 though, most other KT266 motherboards have three, K7T266, 8KHA, and so on.

Nope, K7 Master was going to have 4 but they had issues and went back to 2. KG7-RAID is the only one I know of. Now on KT266, the Shuttle has a new KT266 revision, think of it as KT266A it will improve stability, performance.

Because he said KG7 which is using AMD761 so I assume he wants board with AMD761 chipset. I also wait for Abit or Epox board with KT266 chipset. You know what 1/6 PCI divider!!! with KT266 chipset.

Edit: I read review Gigabyte 7VTX KT266 at inside-hardware here's the quote:

"After you go past 165MHz, a 1/6 PCI divider comes in to effect which means none of your other components are stressed while operating at the high speeds."

wait, it should be 1/5 or 1/6?
