Well I gotta get some new board equipment cause my old stuff is not doing it anymore, so here is what I am thinking of getting: Salomon W450 board, Salomon SP5 bindings, and I already bought new boots the Salomon Malamutes which are probably the nicest boots that I have ever seen or owned. They are custom fit and everything very very comfortable. What do you think of my selections? Any recommendations for what I should get or if I should look at different equipment?

The boots and bindings in my opinion are the most important part.

What prices are you looking to pay? As I understand it Salomon doesn't have enough experience in the snowboard market yet. You may consider looking to something like K2.

I paid $320 for the boots, the bindings are $300, and the board is $450. Only reason I picked salomon is because every board shop that I have been to told me that salomon makes the best boards on the market, and that is what all of the people working at the store ride so I figured they were good boards. Also I have been watching the snowboarding events for the olympics, and about 70% of them are riding salomon boards.

Your setup is fine. You can't really go wrong with equipment from megacoorportations like solomon. If you already bought it are you just asking for support for your purchase?? There is no "best or great setup" it all depends on your riding style. Does the board feel right? Is it the proper size, flex? Are the bindings and boots comfortable or uncomfortable?

Just get out and rip it up. Speed is your friend.

<---- Has over 20 days so far this season.

RANT: Please, if you don't know how to board or if you don't have the courage to go fast in the park STAY OUT OF IT!!! It is VERY dangerous to have people in the park that are not at the ablility level. Learn to board before you try to pump. I almost landed on someone this week and it would have been a VERY bad accident. People that ride the park have to go topspeed to hit the jumps and can't stop for other people.

Haven't bought the board or bindings yet, but I have bought the boots, just wondering if the board will be a good one. Its a wide board which I need cause I got size 12 feet so I think it will be a good one. I hate it when people go slow in the parks too, it is very annoying. This year I guess that there isn't too much to worry about cause the major mountains in my city have no board parks due to the fact that a couple people died on them or seriously injured themselves last year. I think that is a load though cause the people knew the risks when they went in the park so its their own fault. I think it even says on the pass that you can't sue for something like that so whatever I guess.

That sucks badly about closing the parks. Where is that?

I really can't know anything about that particular board. The only way to tell whether a board is good or not is to ride on it. Try to demo before you buy. Do you know your riding style and ability level? Experts like stiff boards where as everyone else will benefit from a softer board. people that rip it up in the park and pipe often like short and super flexible boards.

It depends what you want to do with it. If you don't know then i'd say get a medium to softer flex, directional board that comes up to a little over your chin. Any major company would be fine. Salomon would be just as fine as M3. it wouldn't matter much unless you have the skill to use it.

I live in Kelowna, BC. I like riding most runs, but I am not a huge park rider so no big deal I am more of a trees and looking for untouched terrain type of person. I think the board should be a good one, its the right height 164 which is basically the perfect height for a board. I probably will demo it this weekend and buy it next if I am satisfied with the performance.
