So I'm in the process of forming an LLC. I live in an apartment so I would like to avoid changing my address every time I move or the fact that i dont want public records to show where I live. For that reason, I am going to have a register agent act on my behalf. The question I have is, when I go obtain a bank account, are they going to tie my account to that of the register agent? Or can that go to my apt?

You can use whatever address you want, so long as you can demonstrate that you are authorized to make changes.

You still need a principal place of business for which you can be served legal papers. That's what you'll use for the bank as I'm pretty sure they aren't going to allow a registered agent to be listed for financial documentation.

EDIT: Assuming you mean registering agent as a 3rd party service; I used my physical address for the purpose of setting up an account with a bank and then a P.O.Box for where they mail statements to.

Two things, I'll need a 3rd party registering agent to handle my legal docs. I dont want to have to update things with my state in the event i move. I hate dealing with them.

For bank statements, i'm fine with them going to my apt. They are easy to switch if i need to. It's been a while since i opened an account.

There you go, just do that then.

Use a PO box as your company's principal address to keep it seperate from your private life. Use a registered agent only if absolutely mandated by your state's laws-the expense of this is not worth the trivial hassle of updating your address on the state records (the registered agent's updating requirments will be at least as tough).

Keep it simple should be your mantra. Add complications only when necessary and/or appropriate.

Edit: in my state you have to list an actual address for the officers/managing agent/registered agent of a corporation/LLC/LLP, but I'd still use a PO box for your letterhead/customer contacts/taxes/banking.

Correct, PA requires a registered agent, hence the question. I would love to keep it simple, I figure having a registered agent would at least give me a "permanent" address for important documents and filings.

You can rent a box at UPS and use it for a business checking account, in the name of your business.
