Any slot car hobbyists in here?

I have so many hobbies I've lost count. I'm one of those people who can't sit still in front of a TV for more than 10 minutes, so I need to always be doing something. I was thinking about taking up slot car racing. I love racing and it's something I can do with my son. On top of that, it seems you can go balls to the wall for well under a grand.

We're finishing our basement and once it's done, I'm thinking about putting in an "L" shaped table (10L x 10W x 5D) and going to town.

Slot cars can be fun.

My unlce is big into model trains - he's got plans to fill his entire basement with a setup. Don't remember the size, but I know it's smaller than HO scale, as he donated his old HO scale table to me to make room for this project.
