i want to upgrade my system to 1 GB of RAM, but my motherboard only supports a maximum of 3 memory banks. my current stick of Kingston ValueRAM PC2700 has 2 memory banks, so the system wont support another stick with 2 banks, because there will be 4 banks in total.
ive been searching the web and can never find any info on how many banks a particular stick has. i would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me find a pretty cheap, single-bank 512 MB stick with decent timings. a single-bank 1 GB wouldn't hurt either, as long as its not too expensive.
thanks in advance.

Thanks alot guy, I dont know how you found such a good deal on one single sided. I had so much trouble with ones which had out standing prices....im likw whoa, wut the f@#k. for as much as some places was asking around I could have came out better gettin a gig for wut they asked. and for some reason, alot of european businesses sell 512mb single-sided. I could explain that one. Thats all i just bout got for results in search engines for single side 512....was european nonsense.thats just more trouble than its worth. ordering all the way from europe. I mean damn, u would think america would be just as on top the computer component industry as much as europe. Im tellin you guy, its been just real pain. Thx for the link.

yeah, so the BIOS definition of 'bank' is different than the marketing definition of 'bank'. I'm going to assume your sig is up to date and you're talking about the MSI 648-MAX motherboard. Though it says here ( http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=355 ) that it supports 3 (marketing) banks, that really means 3 dimms (which could have a total of 6 'BIOS' banks).

you honestly don't believe that a modern motherboard with 3 dimm slots would only support 3 single-sided dimm's do you ?

summary: OF COURSE your motherboard supports 3 double-sided dimms.
