Any SF/Bay area AT&T GSM users?

I'm in the trial period of a newly signed up Motorola T721 with AT&T GSM. Now my current phone is Verizon and I've grown accustomed to the good signals in 95% of the places I go.

With this new phone, its VERY random and I have yet to have one "clear" conversation on this phone. I know GSM is still growing but is it worth it to hop on now? I really like this phone ( don't care too much for cameras ) and I could use the extra 10 bucks or so this plan will save me every month ... but will have to return it all if there is no other choice.

Anyone know when/if there will be an improvement in GSM signals?

Does the phone itself make a difference in GSM reception?

I've heard they are constantly expanding their service but their gsm service isn't as good as their old TDMA service. I go to SFSU and my old TDMA phone got better reception than the new GSM phones but that was back in may. I use cingular now. I think no matter what verizon will give you the best recpetion because both TDMA/GSM AT&T and cingular phone dont' work in any building in SFSU, but verizon phone will work. And I've heard that generally verizon has much better reception than the competitition, I think that is why verizion give fewer minutes than the competition because verizon knows they have a much better service. But for me it doesn't matter because cingular work fine for 95% of my calls

Oh and while cingular or t-moblie isn't as good as verizion, I still think cingular and t-moble give better reception in the bay area compared to at&t since they have been around longer than At&T GSM and cingular/t-moble(both use the same network) have more towers as of now...but that may soon change. Really if your not getting the reception you need, I'd change providers because it will probably be a while before it gets better. And if your still in you first 30 days I think you'll only have to pay for your activation free + your first months service and give up you phone and you won't be held to your contract.
