Any sense to start playing Everquest?

I just got a used game bundle off of FS/T and it came with Everquest. I never joined the Everquest world for fear or addiction  but I wonder if it makes any sense to start a new character now. The game has been out for what? 2 years now? Would an entry-level character have any chance in hell to survive in such a developed world? I have no idea how Everquest works, really, but it's one of those things where I think "I at least HAVE to play a little bit, just so I can say I did".

I know people spend big bucks to buy Everquest avatars on eBay, so I wonder if having an entry-level character really sucks that bad.

basicly in EQ u camp around an area for 26 hours straight so you can level up and get enough money for the medalion of campingness.

It doesn't suck that much being a newbie. You'll get lots of people to help you out and give you stuff they don't want.

The one problem is why start now that summer is ending? You'll be glued to your PC for hours.

LevelQuest is pointless...

you level very fast at start thinking "hey this is east and fast, i'll be at 20 in no time"

hten it takes days and days of hacking whacking nad meditating... finding gropus... nad finding your corpse... people train (bring enemys in long lines) into camp areas where they kill people while they are AFK...

i spent 4 hours gaining EXP one night only to find out i lost it all while someone trained spec's at oasis to the docs... 4 hours down the tube

the game could have been fun.. but it just wasn't for me... i'd rather have a face to face social life iwth friends, then looking at screen and getting pissed off at it..

I got sick of Everlevel after about 1-2 months.

I work full time and found it impossible to keep up with my friends who had more time to play. They were all level 25+ when I was 14. So I could never group with them because you had to be within 5 levels of eachother.

The other thing I didnt like about EQ, was the fact that there didnt seem to be much a community. It was just go out and kill monsters and gain XP. THere were some quests, but most of them sucked .
Ya you'd group with some regulars, but it just seemed to be missing some element.

The past few months I've gotten the itch to try one of these games again. I tried AC and didnt like it. I even joined a free UO shard, but I just can't get into beating a freaking dummy or mining for hours on end like I did 2+ years ago.

I am eagerly anticipating this game though Click me

It seem to be much more in-depth history that EQ and I like the fact that you can use buildings as forts against invaders and such. Also t he fact that trade skills are not linked to combat XP at all appeals to me. Just seems to be what EQ was missing in my eye. I'll try iy when it comes out..who knows, maybe I'll hate it.

And of course NeverWinter NIghts is coming (I'm going to love this game), but it's not due out for awhile.
