Any runners on AT?

I want to start running. I've gotten out of shape over the winter, and I need to get back into excercising, and I've always wanted to get into running, but I've been too lazy and made excuses not to.

Anyway, if I wanted to start running, does anyone have suggestions for decent shoes under $100? Any tips? what do you wear to run in the morning when it's about 40 degrees out? What's a good distance to start out with for someone in decent, but not great shape?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Go to fleet feet over in sac, or that one that you see Peja in the commercials for.

For your first real shoes, you should have someone look at how you run and recommend the right shoes.

You can usually find that nifty new thermal stuff that lets air through, but keeps you warm. I think the nike/adidas outlet store usually has some of it over in vacaville.

Otherwise, I usually will wear a headband or something to warm my ears when I'm just starting out.

Headbands are nice, I usually wear a beanie, I also like some light gloves, as far as body goes, I might wear an underarmor shirt and a sweatshirt, then some leggings and a pair of sweats or running pants, thats about it for me, you get pretty warm while running so you don't want to wear too much.
