I plan on doing a lot of running this year, in fact I'm going to get started this week since the weather is finally warming up. Any runners have advice about building up stamina, breathing techniques, comfortable shoes, etc..? Also how much weight have you lost from running? How long did it take?
 
As long as the shoes are comfortable, you are basically set.

Change your gait to allow for less impact on your knees. If done correctly, it also improves efficient use of energy.

Breathing techniques really come with practice and time, unless you practice them doing other things and all the time, the best way to learn them is go out and exercise.
