i'm the basic utility forward, i've played every forward position in a game at one point or anohter since my freshman year, but i'm an 8 man or wing forward if i have a choice, although i really enjoy hooking, i'm better at it than our current starting hooker,
This is for any college rugby players, if any are out there (besides Berkeley): How does your school help you out with money? Do they fund your team even though it is a club, or do the players front most of the money? Cause over here at LSU, with football and baseball being so popular, the school doesn't give us sh*t, and it's a huge pain to travel all over to these playoff sites.
our school gives us some funding, but not enough, player dues cover all our social functions, but like i said, the school does take care of us, just not well enough, our football team blows though, which helps a lot with us i think
hey, brian, your teams looks pretty good. Does your school still have a good football team, or do most of the athletes go to the rugby team? Is that OSU's 1st side that you only lost to by 10 points? I wish we had some high school rugby here in Louisiana; we'd be able to get some better players here at LSU.
I'm a Kiwi- so the answer is pretty much 'hell yes.' Although we don't refer to players as 'ruggers'
How do you find the game to play rather than NFL?, to me it looks faster moving, but less strategic-but i havent really played any American football, only watched.
When i was younger i was a centre, now i'm a flanker.
Having played football for 8 years, it was hard to adjust to rugby. The biggest difference is that here in the US, when you play a rugby game, you are lucky to have 25 people at a game, whereas I played football in front of thousands. If I had the size to play college football for a major school, I would have done so; but since I cannot, I found rugby to a viable alternative. I have grown to enjoy it very much, and I hope it continues to grow here in North America.
Tigerbait, actaully our situation is kinda funny. Our football team which I play for pretty much sucks, our records are usually pretty bad. However our football coaches think they're gods and football is the most important thing. So when we play rugby during football's offseason we get lectured by our coaches regularly not to play rugby. They think it's stupid and that we're just going to get hurt. They fail to realize that rugby is only making us better at football.
And yes, last season we play OSU's A Side, lost 10-20, however.
