Any Rogers (ISP) customers ?

I'm trying to setup my York e-mail to run through outlook when I'm not on the campus network right, I can receive the e-mail fine but I don't have the proper Rogers outgoing mail server.

Does anyone know what it is, like mail.rogers.whatever, or is it specific for each user ?

Thanks - Rob

Just smtp should work. When you set up your account, enable "my server requires authentication" (under the server tab, outgoing mail section).

smtp.broadband.rogers.com should resolve to your local server.
Almost correct except:

he needs the short form for his city.

for example: I live in London Ont.

My outgoing mail server is: smtp.lndn.phub.net.cable.rogers.com

My news server is: nntp.lndn.phub.net.cable.rogers.com

My incomming mail server is: pop.lndn.phub.net.cable.rogers.com

just mail or pop or news or smtp won't work if he is behind a firewall/router.

It should unless he is hosting the server and someone is trying to get to it.

I am only guessing he is behind a firewall/router. If he is, just mail won't work. I know this for a fact. I had to get the server info from Rogers to make my email accounts work.

I'm in Ottawa, and yes it's behind a router - please help 🙁

You need to know the short form for ottawa. Then substitute that into the email servers I listed above.

Or just call Rogers 1-888-288-4663 and ask them for the full email servers in your area.

See my edited reply above you.

I had to do the same thing when Rogers went from @Home to Rogers HiSpeed. Not sure if you remember that or not.

You can call them and ask. You don't have to tell them you have a router either.
