Any rio 500 owners having headphone connector problem?

My daughter's Rio 500 has seen a lot of good use but the headphone connector is loose so that the headphones are intermittant now. I've tried different types and took it into an electronics shop to try some adaptors.

I'm considering taking it apart or am willing to get it repaired but should I be giving up and just finding something new for her?

I've seen two others advertised that the owners said the connector was intermittant too so I guess it must be a problem with these.

Any ideas?
