Since I'm still running an ancient artifact of a PC from 1998, It's time to upgrade. I wan't a gaming rig only using a SFF case.

I will be buying a X800XT when they show up some day but will the 250watt psu be able to handle it with an A643700/X800XT/Raptor74GB?

Thanx

dont you need a special mobo in the small cases? If so, it prolly cant support a fast enough cpu to use the x800xt effectivly

You can run virtually any CPU in a SFF, as you can a full tower case. All the best chipsets are in SFF cases, too, 865/875, NF2, etc.

I would imagine the 250w Shuttle PSU would work fine for those specs. I had a 9800XT in a Biostar with a 200w and it never gave me a problem. My 5900NU did however.

if you're going with a system that powerful, and spending that much money on it....I think it'd be a good idea to get a nice psu to complete it. You're already spending well over a grand...what's another 80 bucks?

I wonder about the Antec Aria with its 300w PSU would go with that setup. I would also like to do the same sort of config...x800 or 6800,etc ,etc

I emailed shuttle about the x800 and if it their psu would be able to handle the x800 and they replied that they havent gotten their hands on any yet in their area.....

Maybe they should just buy from newegg like everyone else or buy a dell system since they usually horde them all up before we get them. I found that email kind of bizzare.

Where is shuttle located?

those shuttle psus are probably of pretty high quality, judging from reports of people running a 9800xt or 5900u on em.. i think an x800 would be fine...it consumes less power than a 9800xt.

This is like a month old by now, but ATI has already confirmed that X800 series will work perfectly fine in any shuttle system.

The shuttle SilentX 250 watt PSUs in ALL their non-G4 style boxes are 100% capable of handling basically anything you can fit in them. VERY VERY top quality PSUs. I am not talking through my SFF case, http://www.sfftech.com is where the discussion is at.

Dont balk at thinking that PSU wont handle it. It will.

The PSUs are very good for their rating, kind of like the PSUs in Dells and the like. Also it is possible to replace the stock PSU with a regular sized one sitting outside the case, which is also good for temperatures.
