Looking for a gaming PC that will fit on a shelf in my entertainment center. Currently a home-built PC in a Silverstone SST-LC10B-E (7H X 17W X 17D) resides there but it is long in the tooth. I don’t have the patience to build another one so I want an off the shelf purchase.

Don't need a DVD drive so the new case could be smaller.

Budget $2k
I7 or better
1070 or better
16 GB RAM

TIA

Origin has the Chronos which can be positioned horizontally. However, I didn't see a 1070 as being available. With a 2070, a 120GB SSD and 16GB of RAM price was $2173, a little over your budget.

With only a 120gig SSD in 2018? What in Hell are they thinking? At that price, surely that could fit in a 1TB one instead.

The more tightly packed a system for gaming is the more problems you will have with heat/noise. So a smaller system will probably suffer in performance or price to compensate.

Here is an example of a bare bones system that uses laptop style components. You still have to add CPU/RAM/Storage. The Laptop style video cards or modules are a bit expensive so it drives up the price.

Hard to find and buy these GTX products. They are expensive. Can cost over $3,000 with CPU/RAM/Storage. Available in limited quantities. Only found in stock on Ebay.
