Any Republicans here? What's wrong with Romney?

Any Republicans here?

The more I think about it, the more I wonder why anyone would vote outside the Libertarian or Republican parties?

After clinton and her husband and obama, why would anyone vote democrat over Libertarian, Green or the Constitution party?

At least by voting for the US Socialist party, you know what you are getting yourself into.

The way I see it, to vote democrat and for the most part republican, you are throwing your vote away, because its a vote for business as usual.

It's really sad & funny. Republicans should have a slamdunk on winning the Presidency this election. But then they field this bunch of losers for candidstes that no one seems to like and it seems like they are giving the election away.

You say you want a conservative, where are the conservative stars in your party and why aren't they running? It should be easy pickings, but you're making Obama look unbeatable with your crap choices.

We don't care about winning. I'd rather lose than have Romney there pretending like he's a Republican.

The list of republican has been brought to you by big business.

If you want "real" change, and not the obama change, you are going to have to start thinking and voting different.

Ron Paul is running. Rubio and Ryan aren't ready (and haven't proven themselves yet). We wouldn't want the equivalent of a noob Obama in the WH. Obama can take the blame for 2012-2016 depression part deux and we can sweep with real conservatives in 2016.

I am convinced that if Huckabee or Palin had decided to run this year, they very well could have walked away with the nomination easily. Palin especially.

but as to why they're not running, well, the television business is treating them very well right now.

I don't know but I sure am enjoying this clown show...hell Stevie Wonder could see none of these idiots could run this country.

And Eisenhower raised tax rates with a Republican senate and house to 92% to pay off crushing war debt and build the largest infrastructure projects world had ever seen.. Was he conservative? Most conservative regard the 1950's as America's epoch. Sometime you do what's right.

You referring to supporting men like Bush, McCain, and Romney? F' those 'conservatives' and they are MOST CERTAINLY not what's right for this country.

Didn't you leave out Christy & Daniels?

Huntsman would be a horrid candidate. He is way to moderate for the GOP base. We found out 08 what happens when you nominate a moderate. If the GOP wants to win, they have to have the base show up on election day and to do that you need a conservative.

Those of you who say the GOP should nominate him (Hugo Drax) are voting for Obama anyways.

McCain didn't lose because he was too moderate. He took practically no "moderate" stances in the campaign. He lost because the economy crashed and voters blamed the GOP, because he brought in a terrible running mate, and because he had too many missteps in his campaign.

But if you prefer the narrative that he lost for being too moderate, I won't put myself out too much to refute it. Go ahead, try a far right candidate and see how well you do.

They were both smart enough to stay away for 2012. Not a fan of Christie. Haven't really seen Daniels in action so I can't say anything about him.

Why stay away this election when it should be a slamdunk? Next election there will be more conservative candidates to run against, Not to mention possibly some better dems to face off against.

Why would we want to win in 2012 if we know 2012-2016 will be an economic disaster? Game theory says for Obama to get elected in 2012 and hopefully they will raise taxes which will kill the economy and then blame it on Obama and you dems.

Romney is totally unelectable. The Republicans do have a history of chosing moderates though. The last time they chose a conservative was with Calvin Coolidge in 1924. The only time before that was when they chose Warren G Harding 4 years earlier.

Reagan and Goldwater (who was an Eisenhower delegate in '52) were part of the New Right, so they weren't conservative.

It is indeed a sad and painful time watching one side try to muster up someone to run against a popular sitting president. Dole tried it. He knows what I speak of.

I guess Romney's only chance, after winning republican nomination to go up against Obama, and it will indeed be Romney... his only chance to get republicans onboard is if Romney picks batshit crazy Bachmann or Perry as his VP.

That is his only half baked chance to gather the party behind him.
And naturally... those reluctant republicans will vote Romney, in thinking 'SOMETHING" will surely happen to Romney during his term, thus giving his VP the grand prize.

But that will be the only way.
Romney picks Bachmann or Perry as his VP.

Anywho... Obama will still get his second term in the end.

Romney strikes me as a thoroughly decent person who is running in a ridiculous primary system. So he stands in contrast to the ridiculousness of those on stage.

I guess Romney is someone who ostensively appears to be both a decent person (while destroying official documents) and a Republican.

I get criticized "vote-splitting" for independents. But that view is flawed, being as both parties are owned by the same plutocrats. I argue the only reason for voting is to send a strong message. What better message could be sent by voting for an independent, whether it be Ross Perot or Ron Paul?

This last decade the American dream has been reduced to those few profiting from the status quo.

Romney as a GOP candidate, just in itself its a study in contrasts if we just look at Romney the politician. As an ex-Gov of a blue state, he actually compiled a descent record, maybe acceptable to some dems. But now that he has flipped flopped and reinvented himself as a born again incredible plastic man hypocrite, he alienates D's and R's equally. A man who no one can trust, as his only record is to inspire deep distrust in both parties. His position today. was not his position yesterday, and now no one knows what his position will be tomorrow.

Or we can look at Romney the businessman, head of Dana capital, the foundation of his personal fortune. What an incredible human turd, everything he touches ends up diminished, as the stockholders of once prosperous companies end up being screwed as Romney control throws everyone under the bus to the benefit of only Mitt Romney.

There is now a certain GOP appeal in drinking unelectable stupidity pure, and if so, Perry, Backman, Cain, Paul, and Gingrich have the better past records.

As for someone electable, the GOP bests hope is now Romney. Because the GOP is determined to reject the only electable candidate they have in Huntsman.

Many democrats and independents are disgusted with Obama, but never assume that disgust will translate into accepting some one far worse than Obama.

Oh my, that's rich.

The problem here is iOwa...
All of these extreme right wing candidates get all the attention.
Why...? Because this is iOwa.

Once iOwa shoots its wad, and they move on, Romney will easily pull out in front.
All he then needs to do to seal the deal, is hint at a Bachmann or Perry vp spot.
Fox news will be praising Romney the very next day. Hallelujah!!!
As too will Rush, and even that skinny crazy blond lady that hates Romney.
Whatever her name is....

Happily married father of 5 vs guy who divorced his wife while she was in the hospital recovering from cancer and then carried on an extramarital affair during the Clinton years?
