Any remove/replace the plastic pushpins on a L775 HSF?

One of the pushpins on my Freezer7 is kind of mashed and doesn't "click in" real well. I've got two stock Intel HSFs sitting here.

It looks like the black turny-part and white-peg-part would come apart easily enough...just looks like I'd have to raise this little leg thing and they'd slide apart.

Anyone swap out these pins before? If it's a L775 HSF, I'd imagine all the pins would have to be the same b/t the stock HSF/Freezer7/whatever other HSF.

Be very careful with the black part. It has a very long and narrow part that can easily break.

I highly recommend replacing the push-pin assembly with this.

Edit:
After you separate the white and black parts, you still have to remove the white part from the metallic structure. There is a peg on the white part that gets deformed when you do that.

Haha, glad I refreshed the page before replying. I was just going to suggest what Navid suggested. Using the removal method you can easily swap push pins. I've had good luck with the Thermalright bolt through kit.

You know, I have been there when you think "I will mount this cooler real good and I will never have to remove it again".

But, as soon as you run some Orthos, you think "May be if I put a little bit less paste, it would overclock better", or "May be if I tried MX-1 instead of Arctic Silver, it would run one degree cooler"!

That is why I install that way. I have never removed the motherboard again and I can remove and re-install the cooler as many times as I want.

Holy crap, I had no idea the whole procedure was so complicated. Thanks much, Navid and Zap. I'll be reading all the links 2x before attempting anything. I won't be ordering any replacement parts; it takes 2 weeks to get stuff shipped here in the first place, and I've waited that long for my Quad to get here.
