Any reliable and easy ways to share bookmarks between Safari and Firefox?

Is there any way to easily keep the bookmarks between Safari and Firefox in sync? I switch back and forth between the two quite often and its a pain to keep opening the other to look for a bookmark.

I haven't found anything. Heck, I had trouble just importing them from Camino into FF. I had to export them to safari and then import into FF. This is insane considering that the mozilla guys actually make both safari and FF.

If anyone finds out how, let me know.

I think Apple makes Safari, not Mozilla. Did you mean Camino?

The main problem is that they both store their bookmarks in different places, in different formats. Although Firefox's are .HTML files, they are buried within the library in a not particularly obvious place.

User->Library->Application Support->Firefox->Profiles->randomletters.default->bookmarks.html

Safari on the other hand is stored as a .plist file, which i believe is basically XML, but is also buried, though slightly more obviously, but only slight.

User->Library->Safari->Bookmarks.plist

I was actually wondering about this - is there anyplace online that you can store your bookmarks? That way you never even have to worry about where bookmark files are located and just use that.

Yes, http://del.icio.us/ can do it. The problem is, I don't really care for how it integrates with the programs. I like how bookmarks normally are, I don't like to use a separate window, etc to be able to see em.

I did come across a program called BookDog, and its pretty good for a manual sync, but its not automatic and it did lose a few bookmarks in the transfer, so its not a viable option for me.

Someone has to make something that works :)

Well, this won't help with different browsers, but if you are running Firefox on multiple computers, you can use Foxmarks to sync your bookmarks between computers.

There is a program by Everyday Software called "BookIt". It is a decent solution but they haven't added Firefox 3 support yet. But as soon as they do that will be my solution.
