My DVR died, and I am out-of-contract with Dish. I really don't want to upgrade to their DVR and be locked into two years.
What are my options? (Cable is out because I live on a border, and Comcast does not broadcast my local channels, but ones for the next state over.) I checked out SiliconDust but read that it will only work with cable, so I guess that's out as well. Something like that would be perfect.
I would like to be able to record shows and save them on discs for viewing on a portable DVD player, if possible. If not, then a flash drive should work. I don't want to spend a fortune.
I do have HDMI on my TV.
I'm new to this but can learn.
Thanks in advance.
