I have a LAN with about 25 developers, 5 Executives, 5 Sales, 6 Implementation, 5 QA and 3Support staff. Our infrastructure :
2 DS1's. One is for our phone system, one is for data/internet. The Data DS1 goes to a Cisco 2509 running the latest IOS. Then it connects to a Sonicwall firewall. Our webserver sits on the DMZ port. Then the firewall is connected to 4 Cisco 3524 XL Enterprise Edition switches running the latest IOS. They are all connected to each other using the Cisco GBIC's (Gigabit Interface Connectors). Our servers are connected to the Gigabit Ethernet Ports (4) and a few servers are connected to the regular 10/100 ports like the rest of the workstations. I plan on adding a mid-power (like a 1.2GHZ,512MB, dual 18GB SCSI RAID0) 2U rack mount server between the firewall and the switch stack to run monitoring software for monitoring user's internet useage. I need suggestions on what monitoring software would be good. I am liking Network Instrument's Observer but what others are good? Thanks for any help guys.
