Ive narrowed my drives to purchase to these two, mainly through converations and little soundbytes dropped on various threads here at anandtech. The Toshiba is 55 w/ no shipping, the Teac 34$ but with UPS Ground at 7.64; otherwise its 13.00 on up. My hesitation is that the Toshiba is from a company called Z-buy.com, which although has decent ratings and enough responces to be taken seriously, has quite a few individual complaints about customer service (lack of) and return policies; however quite a few (in general @ resellerratings) complaints come from schizo computer nutz whom get upset when there are a couple of days' worth of delays, so, not sure what to do.

I believe the "B" series Toshiba's are EIDE, not SCSI. Toshiba is quieter and better CloneCD compatibility, the Teac has faster DAE. Take your pick.

Get the Toshiba from Z-buy. I got mine last week from them. This is supposed to be the best cd rom for using with clonecd.
