Any recommendations on laptop DVD burners?

I want to upgrade to a DVD burner on my laptop (right now I have a cd burner/dvd rom combo). I've looked around and havn't found too much information on them. Anyone know of any decent deals or models I should check out?. This would be for a Dell Inspiron 8600. 4x or 8x, either would do. Thanks.

my 700m came with a Sony DV-D56A, burns most media not too bad. But i'd go with a NEC or Pioneer drive anyday over a Sony/Lite-On

Some of them. On most dells you pull the old drive out of the dell casing, it's two or three screws and then you have to pull hard to separate the glue. Then you just pop the new drive into the dell casing and pop it back into the laptop.

Don't know if they even make a DVD burner, but I've used Toshibas in three laptops already (a DVD-ROM and two CD-RW/DVD-ROM combos) without trouble. There was one drive brand I know there were problems with one particular thing, a HL-DT-ST GCC-4240N, another CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drive. I guess it's some grouping of companies or something. The drives were junk, a lot of people had problems with them dying early, and not burning at full speed, if at all.
