Any recommendations on expandable phone systems?

I just moved into a new house and I've decided to get one of those 5.8 GHz expandable phone systems so I won't have to run a bunch of phone lines.

I've been looking at some reviews at Amazon and epinions, but I thought I'd open it up here.

I really like my Panasonic KX-TG6500. It's easy to use, has a speakerphone in the base, comes with one remote handset (and I have one other). It's a 2-line model, tho. I don't see that as a problem. 😛 We used to have two telephone lines. It also comes with an answering machine (built into the base). 🙂

Only problem with my Uniden 2.4 GHz phones is that I can't use my laptop in the same room as the base station. I might try upgrading to the 5.8 GHz myself.

i have 3 of the uniden 5.8Ghz tru 8600,i believe. works great and havent had a problem with it. some of the features are custom ringtones, direct handset connects and speakerphones on the handsets.

Panasonic is pretty much the best if your looking for an expandable phone and you can usually catch them pretty cheap with rebates on fatwallet. I've got a Panasonic KX-TG5230 that i got almost free from Staples.

like most other people are saying... panasonic is the best for expandables...

on a side note, panasonic's current line of phones has many models in 5.8ghz that come with 1,2, or 3 handsets... be careful, some of them only work with the handsets that come with it; while other models (like the KX-TG6500 mentioned earlier) work with up to 8 total handsets that are sold separately. so don't buy one that has multiple handsets but is not expandable unless you're sure that the 2 or 3 handsets is all you're going to need.

btw: i sell phones and small appliances at an appliance store, and if you want to pm me, i could get you the model numbers of the phones i'm talking about that are not expandable

Thanks all, I was looking at the Panasonics or the Unidens, looks like I should look closer at the Panasonics.
