Any recommendations on a good scanner that's easy to use?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good scanner for general usage and for scanning 35mm slides.

Criteria for this would be:
(Highest to lowest priority)
1) ease of usage (person using it doesn't know what Windows Xp is).
2) price
3) size
4) quality

Trying to find a scanner for a friend who is not too computer literate.

For slides, you might want a dedicated slide scanner instead of just a $100 flatbed scanner.

Consider the size of the slide vs. an 8x10 print, and think about applying just the same 2400 dpi as you'd use on the print to a slide that is a fraction of that size. If a person's face is 1" in the print you might devote 2400x2400 pixels to it while in the slide 300x300.

If the quality doesn't matter too much though, a flatbed with a slide adapter will get the job done.
