This fan constantly changing speeds is annoying, any suggestions to either make it always loud or quiet?

Is there a good/better replacenemt fan?

First of all,, are you using SpeedFan? link
If not I'd HIGHLY recommend it.

Second.. the good news is there are tons of replacement fans out there. I use the coolermaster neon LED fan myself and found it to be much quieter than the stock jet engine. ;) Sudhian forums have extension coverage on these replacement fans as well, so check them out > link

Are you overclocking your SN45G?

No overclocking and I'm only running a 1.4G tbird 133fsb. I moved the system from the floor to my desk and this fan is driving me nuts!

No prob! How'd it turn out? Speedfan can be confusing when you first start using it.

I found that my Sunon (when I had it) could be turned to less than 5%... YMMV

It was extremely confusing to figure out but I got it. I set it to max 6% min 1% and all is well so far. I might actually drop it to 5% but right now it's pretty close to my HDD's noise output.

Now to find one that flows a little more air yet is quieter. I can get my system temps below 45-50°C

Well, I'm still in a battle. I can't get my temps low enough to be comfortable but I refuse to hack this thing up for airflow just yet. Any other ideas?

This is why I recommended an iDeq in your first thread. :p Sorry, there's not much that can be done without modding to quiet the fan. You can always replace the system and PSU fans.

well, it's partly my fault since I set the system on my desk. I think I'm gonna put it back in the system shelf. That will move it away and I won't notice the noise as much. I added the 50CFM fan in and that got my temps to plummet to 39°C but the noise, JEESH! I'm just looking for a happy medium.

Changed the stock fan to a Panaflo and piggybacked another one to the outside. (I'm not ready to cut this thing yet)

Both make less noise than the stock sunon and my temps dropped 4-5°C as well!

I have max 20% and min 5%

Make sure you leave a good max so when you run games or movies
the sucker can blow off the additional heat...better safe than sorry.

My loudest fan is actually my ati radeon 9600xt.
