Any recommendations for dedicaded Hi-Fi amplifiers under $1000?

Right now I'm looking at either the Outlaw 7075 or 7125. Admittingly, I'm only driving a pair of Polk RT225i with a Pioneer VSX-D514 at the moment, so either model will do fine, I know. I am currently looking into DIY projects for bookshelf models to replace the Polks.

Since I'd only be using this system on my computer box, I was also wondering how necessary it would be to also purchase a pre/pro as well. The only reason I would need one is the possible necessity of pushing all of the bass to the sub, and an amp won't do that, unless I can do it in software on the soundcard. I have an ASUS Xonar DX.

Depends on what you need it for. The type of load that the speaker will present to the amplifier is very important to take into account when choosing your amplification. Additionally, knowing how far you will sit from the speakers is also important.

Did you mean the RT25i?

What DIY speakers were you thinking of making?

So you're looking for a 7 channel amp for $1000?
Emotiva is the other usual suspect for affordable amplifiers online in addition to outlaw that you've mentioned

Too bad your Pioneer doesn't have pre-outs or you could have used that as your pre-pro.
