After getting some answers to the possible problem in this thread, I'm going to have to start looking for a Slot1 mobo to support this old P2-350 in my friends computer. It was a FIC KA-6110 that just died in it....

Can anyone recommend one?

The Asus P2B is a good bx slot1 motherboard = Yes, known to me personally.

The best BX? Possibly the Soyo 6BA+ IV
(Possible the best of all time?...no need to start a flame war.

If you are going for stability, without trying to overclock then an Intel SE440BX-2 is the king. It doesn't getting better than that....

If you plan on overclocking, I would have to recommend 'the Legendary' Abit BH6 ....

sm0kes out.

Nope, it doesn't need to OC at all, just looking for something enough for a Email/Word Processor/Finance machine...nothing major, just stable :)

Thanks for the recommendations so far....time to start looking around!

one of my machines still runs an Abit BX6 Rev 2.0 and it 0wnz. You wouldn't go wrong with any 440BX from Abit.

The Asus P2B is a great board. I have a P2b & P2B-F. I don't know if you can still buy these, but I might be willing to sell you my P3B if you want. I am running my PIII 450 at 504.

So we're talking ATX form factor ... what cards and peripherals will have to be supported?

thawolfman, you've received some good recommendations. Here's an Abit BH6 for $28.95. I've purchased from these guys b4, and they're a fair dealer. My most recent purchase was a Soyo 6BAIII+ board that's running a PII-350 in my daughter's room. I have a BH6 in my older daughter's system, off at college. That board has been the best mobo I've ever used.

Soyo SY-6BA+III or +IV. Very stable and easy overclockers...equal to the MSI 6163.
