Any recommendations for a replacement A8n-e mobo fan

Swiftech MCX-159R. little loud, but effective, and definitely not as bad as the original. Actually I ended up taking the fan off altogether, never had any stability issues whatsoever. I also hear that they have a new all copper version available which should cool better.

I've tried the ThermalRight NB-1 and the Swiftech on my A8N-E. The Swiftech is a keeper.

Whoa, those lunatics at Swiftech now have a forged copper version  http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/swmcchco.html

edit: btw I tried passive cooling with a Zalman too, since I had one laying around. It got WAY hot, right out to the tips of the fins. Too hot for my tastes.

The Swiftech is very quiet. The Thermalright isn't, although you can help it somewhat by dropping the fan to 6-7 volts.

You're right, it isn't cheap. 🙁 If you want fan cooling, and want it cheaper, you could get a Zalman and then buy a quiet 40mm fan and fasten it onto the side or something. But good-quality, low-noise 40mm fans are not the easiest thing to find on the market.

The other nice thing about the Swiftech is the fasten-down system. An nForce4 southbridge has no heatspreader to protect it, so I feel better about the Swiftech's thread-me-down-gradually fastening system than the Zalman or other pushpin-type heatsinks.
