Any recommendations for a PSU going into a file server that can support up to 10 SATA HDDs?

No video card or legacy hardware, just 10 SATA HDDs and a DVD-RW drive connected to the MB. I currently have an Antec Earthwatts 380W. Would that be enough or is there something better, quieter?

I would recommend a PSU that has enough power connectors (SATA + Molex) for 11 drives. Do you have a controller with staggered spin up?

I'm not sure what you mean.

What are the specs of the server? The EA380 is barely enough depending on the specs. Assuming 2A each per drive at startup, that's roughly 20A being used by the drives alone, leaving roughly 7A or 84W leftover for the CPU, mobo, RAM, CD-Drive, and fans.

Corsair HX750....has 12 SATA power connectors. If that is just too much TX650...it has 8 SATA connectors, and then you could possibly use molex for the rest.

PC Power and Cooling quad silencer 750W. Single-rail. I got one to power my storage server, with 21 HDs.

Edit: Yes, it's the Norco 4020.

What type of case are you using with 21 HDDs?

True, PC P&C is also known for doing custom cabling, so they may put more SATA connectors on there for you.....for a price.

Whoa. With so much room and it being hot-swappable, I'm surprised it's not more expensive.

Do these PSUs only have one 12V 8-pin power connection? My MB is a dual processor so I need two of those.

well, that was kind of some pertinent information that would have been helpful in the first post....obviously 2 processors means more power. You aren't going to find many dual EPS 8pin units under 1000W. You certainly won't find 1 under 700W.

Perhaps like VirtualLarry said, you would be better of contacting PC Power and Cooling and asking them to do a custom cable job for you with 2 EPS12V connectors and 10+ SATA connectors.

Wow, I didn't realize that considering, before multicore processors, multiprocessor MBs were getting popular. I guess I should contact them. There isn't at least one I can use as a reference on Newegg?

You mean a specific model of PC Power and Cooling? I would say the Silencer 610 or Silencer 750...depending on how much they will charge you for the PSU and custom cabling.

If they will charge you too much, you could go for something like this for $200

I-Star PS/2 server PSU It is designed by Impervio, so should be good. From what I can tell of the picture it has an 8pin EPS12V and a 4+4 pin CPU connector...although I only see 6 SATA connectors.
