I have 5 desktops in my office and I used a Blackbox Servswitch KV3108SA-R4 for over 10 years. It worked fine until a few months ago when it started having problems. The KVM switch is 8 port and has DB25 ports in the back. The desktops connected to the KVM switch with cables that are PS/2 on one end and DB25 on the other. The PS/2 ports connect to the desktops and the DB25 port connect to the KVM switch.

The problem now is that the mouse doesn't work thru the KVM switch. I've replaced the mouse and the cable that connects the mouse to the KVM switch but it still doesn't work.

So I need to replace it and I've been looking for a new KVM switch. Blackbox sells (pricey) 8-port KVM switches but they are now RJ-45 ports. They don't sell KVM switches that are DB25 anymore. So I know I might have to replace all the cables that are used to connect the desktops to the KVM switch; this is not a problem.

Looking for any recommendations. It has to be 8 port with hotkeys to switch between hosts and reliable. The one I had was reliable for over 10 years so I'm looking for something that will last that long without failing.

I prefer something that's DB25 but I am willing to get one that's RJ-45 port or USB port. Any recommendations?

PS: I am not interested in discussing why I need a KVM. Yes, I can use RDP from one Windows PC to another but not all of my desktops are Windows. So I need a KVM switch. I looked at this thread: https://forums.anandtech.com/threads/help-me-find-a-kvm-switch.2481188/

...but this thread was more about discussing why one needs a KVM switch instead of discussing what types of KVM switches are out there and what types are the ones to recommend.

So I ran into a similar issue with almost the exact same design 8-port kvm made by cybex. I was bummed by 20 year old kvm had stopped working so I looked on ebay and saw that $20 would get me a functional one. Mine actually started working again once it stopped overheating (ac broke), so I never needed to replace it, but this might be the best route for you.

Also, it's important to note that blackbox usually has a lifetime warranty on their stuff so even if they don't have the same kvm, get the newer one and then sell it and buy a used one for your old model. You still win.
