I have a domain and would like to setup some forums on it like smf or something similar. Any recommendations on good, free hosting to get me started?

FreeWebHostingtalk.com might have a few but you'll need to spend time to find them and search for their limitations.

There are a handful of AT'ers who could offer free hosting, maybe one of them will see this thread and contact you.

If you can afford $24/yr then I would consider StableHost.com, select their basic plan, change payment to annual and use the coupon code.
