Any recommendations for a 5.1 speaker setup?

I would love to buy the Promedia 5.1, but I just simply don't have $400 to spend. Damn tuition. Does anyone have any recommendations for a QUALITY sounding 5.1 setup? I'm not looking for the most powerful setup, but I would like something that sounds nice, preferable in the under $200 range.

Buy a reciever off ebay for about 100-130 with shipping. Just make sure it has the analog inputs. Then buy speakers as the money comes in. This way you are buying yourself a stereo and computer speaker system at the same time. Heck get one with DD5.1 decoding and your computer becomes your DVD player as well.

Worked for me 2 years ago and I know have a HTPC with a great reciever and speakers running it.

do a search, plenty of stuff around the forums, and there's another thread almost exactly like this somewhere.

Boy, you guys just don't know what a 5.1 system is, eh? :) Nothing against the Z560 (I would recommend them myself wholeheartedly), but...

I'd have to say that the Logitech z560s would be THE WORST "5.1" speaker solution. Why? Because it's not a 5.1 speaker set!!!!

Honestly, as far as 5.1 multimedia speakers go, the ProMedia 5.1s are really the only way to go.

I, too, would recommend the Logitech z560. You'll be sacrificing really nothing. The center channel is cool, but I think when you unpack the 560s and blow your ears out, you'll understand what I'm talking about. Those speakers are great and it seems like you don't want to go crazy on the $$$$$ there's definately no other option--under $200 and damn nice.

I'd either start saving for the promedias if you have to have the best

Or start enjoying 4.1 audio now and get a setup that you probably won't notice the lack of a center channel.

If you have to have the best, don't settle for promedias. Get a real HT rig.

but since there's a budget, might as well go z560. Can't really sound that much worse than the promedias anyway.
