I'm looking for decent speaker that price around $100-$150 for music, movie and gaming. Any recommendation would like highly appreciated.

Thanks

I still think my Altec Lansing ACS-48's have some of the best Bass out there 🙂 i love them, but i have also herd that the Benwin SW-80's are pretty darn good. They should both be around $100. Note these are both 3 piece setups, for 5 piece i wou8ld go with the FPS 2000.

fps2k's are 4 piece. the Klipsch promedia's are nice too, tho $250.

My suggestion if you're on a budget, find some ACS48's... two of them.. one set goes to rear, one to front 🙂 Tho, if you can't find them for $80 shipped each, it probably wouldn't be worth it.

i dont like acs48, i owe that speaker before, my suggestion is the acs45.2 is still the best, more cheaper and good

2 sets of aura aspec30's and a decent sub or two. JFYI, aura aspects may lack the power of acs48 (15W as opposed to 20W for sats) its highs and mids are untouchable by any altec lansing speaker unit. give yourself a try and you will be amazed... meci has them for $30 plus shipping. or you could get aspect30/40 combo for $50 😀

I heard a lot of people were talking about Altec Lansing ada 880s while ago. What do you think this compare to FPS 2000? According to the spec, Altec Lansing do have better advantage in term of wattage but the signal-to-noise ratio doesn't as good as FPS2000. Anyone experience these two speaker?

Thanks

My roommate has the FPS2000 and they sound great. I like them better than the AL880 (kid down the hall has them). IMO, it's basically what your ear likes better. You should see if a computer store near you has them out so you can listen to them. They are both good speaker sets.

If you can find them, get the Sony SRS-002PC Speaker system. I don't even know if Sony still makes them actually. They're the only piece of equipment to last me through 3 different computers (my Apple 17 inch monitor has lasted me through 2). They're two sharp speakers powered by a nice wood-based Sub-Woofer (or Super Active Woofer as Sony calls it). They're about 6 years old and worth every penny of the 150 I paid for them back in the day 🙂. Great treble response and the bass on this thing, tho not 'shake yer roof down' powerful, have a great rich sound.

[sigh]

If you don't plan on using the ACS880's in a surround sound/4 speaker setup, then they are great speakers.

I own them and they sound great for a three speaker setup, but as a four speaker/surround they are nearly worthless. The rear speakers are barely audible, and the sound that they do produce is very poor at that.

But, I really have no use for the surround sound effect so I'm not really out much. I only paid $100 for them, so I'm not out too much. They have a remote control and a bigger subwoofer than the ACS48's so I'm happy.

By ths sounds of the the ACS-48's are good, unless you want to save another $50 for a set of Kilspch 😀

I personally prefer my stereo over most PC speaker setups, although I've heard the Klipsch Promedias and they're quite good, even for the $250 most people are asking.

If you can still find them, Advent makes two nice sets, one for $80 retail with a small (8"?) woofer, and a $120 set with a larger (12"?) woofer.

Not sure what you can get them for on-line, but they might be cheaper that way.

I heard them at Fry's and A-B'd them against the $500 Bose system...
I thought the $120 Advent system sounded very nearly as good for 1/4 the price. But, by all means listen to them first. And make sure you've got return privileges just in case.

I think Yamaha speakers sound the best in that price range goto pricewatch and search for a good vendor..
