Folks any recommendation on blueray player that streams netflix?

I am trying to stay below $200 if possible. Otherwise, it just makes sense to buy the PS3.

The models I have considered so far are Samsung P1600 and LG BD370/BD390 (if I can find this below $200)

Share your personal experience with netflix streaming if you will.

Happy holidays!

I hate to suggest paying more money than your budget allows, but I really think that the PS3 would be more future proof in the long run, and you get games and DLNA (streaming media) access too.

Otherwise, the P1600 and BD370 are both very similar units and the decision really comes down to preference and price.

I picked up the P1600 model this past BF for $150. So far I like it. Netflix, utube & Pandora (think that's the name) work good. All the streamed netflix movies I've watched looked at little under dvd (almost vcr) quality, but these are older movies. Vegas Vacation and Dutch ; )

Blu-ray have been flawless, Star Trek (2009) & G.I.Joe (2009)

Thanks for the posts guys.

@Sep: Did you have any issues with the firmware upgrade? I read reviews saying that the machine stopped working after it received an automated firmware upgrade.

I picked up the LG BD370 from the local bestbuy store. They had the Sammy P1600 on sale for $129. Salesman owns the P1600 but urged that I get the LG. He was personally not happy with the DVD playback on the Sammy.

Thanks folks!

I've had the LG BD370 for just about a week and am very happy with it too.

Looking at the BD390 right now. Unfortunately it is quite a bit more money. But it has DNLA and all that....

Ive been looking for my first blu-ray player myself and was actually supposed to get it for Christmas but since I couldnt decide lol...

Anyways. I can give a little helpful info as ive done alot of reading.

LG370/390: If you want LG, youre gonna have to get the LG 390. The 370, which you can read on multiple sites, apparently has "lower video quality" and is also the older model with a few other issue. The LG390 is about $260 at BB right now, but it has like all the damn features youd want. I wouldnt consider the 370 personally.

Ive stayed away from samsung blu-ray players, partly because people seem to say they have some quality control issues. I am not sure how true this is but....

The panasonic bd60k/80k I keep coming back to. Its only $120 at Bestbuy right now. The only issues with it is, it doesnt steam netflix. Also lacks a bunch of other stuff of course but...its known for very good quality video and audio.

Playstation 3: I keep coming back to this and ive almost pulled the trigger on it but... PS3 obviously does everything and is a gaming system. It has a few negatives ive read. Supposedly the audio quality is not as high as other standalone players. I am not 100% sure if thats true but, ive read it on a few places. I guess PS3 has "not-so-great" dvd playback either, which is important for me .....:( PS3 is also the most expensive option and you also need to buy a separate controller for $20, which makes it $320 before tax...

Pioneer bd320: Seems good. I had many people from this forum recommend that. Ive read that it has among the slowest load times though, which is unfortunate. Also, it does not stream netflix I do not believe.

Heres some sites ive been pulling some research from....

the lg bd390 seems to be the only device on the market that streams both internet content including netflix plus your local content (pictures, audio and video)...frustrating there aren't more options yet...but with the ces show coming up i'd say stay tuned. i'm looking myself, and have come to the conclusion not to buy a really expensive player since i'm not convinced bluray is a long term format, and also because at least half (maybe more) of my needs involve streaming rather than playing disks.

heck, if there was a standalone box that streamed all the good internet content and streamed locally stored content from my pc i'd get that and would forget about a disk player completely....but i think the only way to get all that as of now is the lg bd390...
