Topic. I'm looking for one to use for a home server. Please recommend one because I haven't touch this territory yet. I want a quality one, but not a very expensive one. Thanks.

what's expensive to you? this is your PSU so remember that it powers everything. If anything, go expensive on this and cheap out on other things, but what price range?

I have a Vantec 520W and like it. Can't tell you if it is noisy as my Intel Windtunnel 60mm fans cover almost any noise including the dog barking ;)

All under $100. All with APFC and very solid units:

X-Finity Al 500W APFC (picture is wrong): http://www.thenerds.net/index.php?page=productpage&affid=8&pn=ULT31843

Silverstone Element 500W: http://www.sundialmicro.com/SilverStone-Power-500Watt-sstst50ef_1723_640.html

Nextherm (built by SevenTeam) PSU460: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817388003

AMS Mercury 550W: http://www.axiontech.com/prdt.php******=FG&item=75147

EDIT: Axiontech links are apparently "taboo." Just go to their site and search for "PP-5503EPS"

This has become my default recommendation for 90%+ of systems: Enhance ENP-5140GH - basically the same as the Silverstone Strider ST40F.

The above is a link via Froogle that saves you a big $1.56! over going direct to ewiz...

Not the Strider ST40F. It's basically the same as the Element ST40EF.

Thanks everyone.

Super6, I tried to contact you via pm, but you're not replying. Is the psu still available?
