Any Recommedations for a home projector?

Just to make sure - do you have a light controlled room?

This is a good resource for checking out comparisons between projectors including the latest units.

Do you know if you're susceptible to the Rainbow Effect for DLPs? The large screen size and thus viewing angle you get from front projection setups often means you eyes are darting more across the screen that can really bother some people on DLP units depending on the unit's capabilities (color wheel speed and segments). If you know that doesn't bother you much if at all, there are some great ~$1000-ish 720p DLP models out.

I paid $1045 for my Sanyo PLV-Z5 from ProjectorPeople last year. Throw in another $35 or so for materials & paint for screen and I have a 92" screen for much much less than a TV would have cost me. 😉

Looks like they're OOS at the moment though.

Oh and do your research, and a lot of it. I spent probably a good 3-4 weeks researching before I decided on the Z5. Everyone's room, personal preferences, budget, etc are different.

I have a Mitsubishi HD1000u and absolutely love it. It's a 720p projector so HD looks great but SD also looks pretty good (I have a lot of SD content). It's around $899 anywhere.

Yes I have. I plan on a DIY job. I'm still doing research on that part. Thanks for the link.

AVSforum has a dedicated forum just for DIY projector screens. If you haven't already checked it out, you definitely should.
