Any reason why this Thermaltake K8 Cooler won't work on Socket A?

Check out this Thermaltake cooler

I want to put it on an MSI K7N2 Delta-L board that I will be putting in my 'rents computer with a TBird 1.4. I want this cooler (A) 'cuz its cheap and (B) 'cuz its quiet. The retention mechanism looks like it will fit the MSI socket A board, IIRC from when I had a K7N2G Delta-ILSR but they list this as an Opteron/A64 K8 Cooler.

Or, recommend me a cheap & quiet K7 cooler! Sub-30dB, copper core HS preferred. Thanks!!

I wouldn't try it. Speeze makes good socket a coolers, and they will attatch without using a device to force down the lock. The one I used didn't require as much force as most socket a coolers.

Found Speeze's website, looks like they have good stuff. BUT, I can't find anyone that sells them and if I had to guess their coolers probably don't go for <$15. This is going in a system that isn't used often and the best cooling IS NOT A FACTOR. As long as it works and is quiet, I'm happy.

And the clips just look like regular socket A heatsink clips, nothing more. Anyone have any specific knowledge? Thanks in advance!

it isn't specific knowledge, but isn't the a64 socket considerably smaller than s462, meaning that the clips would be spaced wrong?

Here is what looks like the official SktA/370 version of that cooler, though the other one you linked does show up in the A/370 category on Newegg.

Here is a Speeze cooler (it looks like some of their stuff is now sold as Masscool, but this one was branded Speeze before).

Thanks ts3433!! Those are exactly what I'm looking for. I'll debate between the two and order them with the K7N2 refurb board from NewEgg. Problem solved!! :D
