In the days of Huge graphics cards and rich newbies using them for internet surfing I was wondering if you could do anything more productive with that chunky 64MB Geforce 2 Ultra or that 128MB Voodoo 5 6000. Most of the time for most people, it just sits there drawing the desktop while your web surfing or cruising the forums. That takes 4 MB of your memory at most (unless you like using a 2048 * 1536 resolution and seeing jack all on your screen). Meanwhile youve got this other 60-124 MB of RAM lying around doing jack all. The specs on the Ultras RAM is 250 MHz DDR which gives you a 4 Gb transfer rate as opposed to a measly 1.06 Gb with your top-of-the-range system memory. Coupled with a AGP 4x (soon with 8x) there would be no bandwith problem at the slot end. The only bottleneck would probably be at the AGP bus/bridge/whatever but you could start implementing a direct bridge to the CPU. The only catch I can see is that the latency might be slightly higher. If youve seen the AT review of DDR System memory, think of what a 4x increase in your memory speed would lead to.

BTW. with 2 identical HD's you instanly think RAID, why not for RAM, 2x 64 MB has the same price as 1x 128MB and using raid it would be equivilant of a 128MB DDR RAM stick. Coupled with a fast video card, you would have ~60 MB of 4 Gb memory and another 128 MB of 2GB memory... Tell me that cant speed up your computer significantly!.

Two words:
Bank Interleaving

We already have the Raid for Ram effect you mentioned.
Your PC100 ram is also known as 222 ram. One of the 2 is the Cas delay, and another is for the number of banks it has. Go into your bios and tell it you have 2 bank dimms.
