Any reason to use DX9 mode in UT2004?

I remember something about using the D3D9Drv.dll and changing the UT2004.ini to force DX9 rendering. Is there any performance gain or visual quality enhancement by doing this?

I'm pretty sure that recent patches have actually removed support for that DX9 renderer. From what I remember, there was no noticeable performance gain or image quality improvement from using the renderer either.

Ahh okay. I think I had pulled the .dll from the original version and saved it, but it looks like I can just forget it about it. I never noticed any change in quality or performance while I enabled it, but I was curious.

Still though, its a great game. The graphics are still pretty decent. Even with my old computer (3200+, 9800 Pro) I could run 1680x1050 with some AA. Now I should be able to completely max everything possible and have it fluid as hell.

I agree, it's a lot of fun and the graphics aren't too bad, especially when you can turn everything all the way up and still maintain 60fps. That's more than I can say for any other game from the past two years, where I always have to turn down settings so I don't get a slideshow :p
