I have a P4 2.4B running at 3.0GHz (168mhz bus) and I'm getting around 11800 in 3dmark03 with a 6800GT (oc'd to ultra speeds). Would I notice a nice improvement if I went to an 754 athlon64 system or should I wait for the 939s to come down in price?

I would wait. You are held back a tiny bit from your CPU but I don't think it would be worth a few hundred to get something new until atleast the 90nm 939's are out and have come down in price a bit.

I COULD sell off my 2.4B and get a 2.8C. It would still work in my Asus P4PE-BP with just a bios update :)

yea, i agree wtih JBT. your computer, at that clock speed, is still relagtively mid-high end. it wouldnt be worth getting a cpu only a bit faster if you plan to spend less then $300 on a new one. i'd wait for socket 939 wtih 90nm

I would wait until early next year when you get great deals after the holiday shopping spree this winter.

I've always noticed two things:

1. prices go up late summer in anticipation for new school year.
2. prices go up around late fall in anticipation for holiday gift shopping and slew of game releases.
