I have just about every paycheck stub I've ever gotten since I started working at the age of 15. I'm 22 now, and they are weighing down my documents box...

Is there any good reason to not keep paycheck stubs for anymore than a few months?

I wonder this as well. I used to save them but lost track so said screw it and ended up shredding a years worth. My dad yelled at me and told me you should always save them. I asked him why and of course he had no answer. So why the crap should you? Any information someone needed your employer could supply right?

I don't think it would matter since I have copies of the W-2's from every year, too.

You really only need to keep a few months worth. The only time I needed some were when I was buying a house, even then they only wanted three checks. Your place of employment should also keep them on record for you.

My father had 20 years of pay stubs from being in the military. He went through them one time and found out that he was underpayed for a year in the 80s and they paid him like $1500.

I read somewhere you should keep all financial stuff (e.g., paystubs, tax returns, receipts) a minimum of 5 years... Just in case you get audited ;)
