Any reason to invest with more than one company?

I'm wondering if I should open an account with a new company now that I have a semi large sum of money. It seems like I shouldn't put all my eggs in one basket. Anyone else do this or have comments?

As long as you are covered under FDIC, I wouldn't worry. If you have so much money that youexceed their limits, can I have some money?
