Well, WinME does have a better performance over win9x, and it is more stable... so I guess whether it is worth the money depends on how much these improvements worth to you...

However, i must say, WinME is not complete stable yet... I have heard a lot of problems with hardware etc... so if you decide to go for the upgrade, do check MS's website and see if all your hardware is compatible, and if your hardware manufacturers have updated drivers for winME...

Are you running Win98 or Win98SE? The latter makes more sense as an upgrade than WinME. I used WinME for almost 2 months and wasn't very impressed. The "enhancements" don't justify the way it gobbles up resources IMHO. Frankly, I abandoned WinME two days ago in favor of Win2K.

Actually I've read 2 separate reviews (CNet and ZD) that even though WinMe boots faster, the performance of programs is slower than Win98....Greg

Don't buy the winME upgrade. If it aint clean install, forget about it or else you'll be nursing migranes for weeks (or till the next format).

Actually, from personal experiences with a clean installs of winME, programs not only run faster but are more stable. Heck, I got a 6 day uptime three weeks ago. On the 6th day the shadowram made me reboot though.

I would suggest a full install version of winME but not the upgrade.

You don't HAVE TO buy a full version to do a clean installation. You can do a clean install with the upgrade version. Just search this forum to find an answer.
