I will be getting a new computer for a htpc, its only new to me. I currently have a 1.2ghz celron with 256 megabytes of ram that is used for playing back movies. It is running WinXP and I play the movies with VLC.
The new computer will be a linux box Ubuntu and VLC, unless I decide tochange to XBMC or Mtyhbuntu. It will be used only for play back no recording, is there a good reason to move to one of these 2.
The advantages are right now is that it simple and just works, the wife and kids know how to run it. Movies are stored on a samba share on my main box and share from there. I want to keep it as simple as possible. Any thoughts.
