Typically, the factory OCed cards are more expensive than the stock cards. I understand that the factory OCed cards may ship with better cooling solutions. Other than that, is there anything else different between a factory OCed card and a stock card that you OC yourself? I'm probably going to replace the stock cooling solution anyway -- probably with a VGA Silencer -- so it doesn't make much sense to buy the factory OCed card if that's the only difference. Are the factory OCs just for people who are afraid to do it themselves?

Overclocking is always a YMMV case. From a 300mhz stock core, one GPU may hit 450mhz and the next only hit 305mhz. (Stable of course)

Factory overclocks provide guarunteed overclocks.

Some people will be afraid to overclock, others wont know how or wont risk warranties. for someone purchasing a factory oc'ed card, it may be just because its the only one in stock.

If you are confident enough to overclock yourself and want to, there is little reason to typically buy a factory oc'ed card unless its price-friendly, available and the brand you want.

I could be wrong but I dont think Factory Overclocked cards will overclock that much higher than stock clocked cards.

Thanks for the replies. I had forgotten the warranty issue. I'll need to take that into consideration.
