Any reason NOT to use XP for a Windows machine?

Is there instance where Win2000 or even Win98SE is the better choice? How about Server 2003? Are they any known compatibility issues with desktop software and games?

I say it depends on the hardware. Low end systems would be better off using windows 2000. I don't recommend 98se to anyone no matter what.

2003 is for servers, so run it on servers. You aren't going to really get anything extra running it on a desktop/client

If you don't have a lot of ram, or use non plug and play hardware use windows 2000 instead. I prefer it in general, but its not a ton different than XP.

If you aren't running a server then a server OS would be pointless. For a home user, XP is best, and most likely Home edition specifically.
