I have a 3700 with similar specs. Great machine. Very portable and easy on the eyes. The ATI Mobility might be a little disappointing if you're a gamer, though. Same goes for the 4000 rpm hard disk if you're doing anything disk intensive. But you could make these complaints of any laptop.

I have to manage about 20 notebook users and I hate working on the Dell machines. I have had more problems with the Dells (as well as Microns). In contrast, the IBM and Toshiba notebooks seem to be rock solid (the higher end IBM and Toshiba machines).

Example, one Dell user has had the covers the protect the RAM and video card break off twice.

Just my personal opinion.

We got 4 Inspiron 5000 7 month ago: 2 P3-500 and 2 P3-600
Problems so far:
Keyboards are really bad - supports under keyboard are gettig loose
One laptop had battery shorted - replaced
One cd-rom stopped reading disks - replaced.

Really heavy.
Positiive - works good, fast, screen is really good (14") and build-in dual monitor support (ATI).

Also if you need to run DOS programs with emm386 support - it will not do it - no memory for page frame.

I also have a 3700. I've been pretty happy with it. Good balance between screen size and weight, IMHO.

Well, I Ordered it last night, $1800
Thanks for all the replies! Most of the time I'll hopefully have external mouse/kb anyways. I don't think that I'll like any laptop keyboard/touchpad anyways. THanks!
