Would this deal make sense and are there any reasons not to do it?

Can a key from these guys be activated on Steam?
Usually they give out steam keys but in this case
"
  • Log into The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited Account, or create a new one if needed.
  • Select Redeem Code on the My Account page.
"
Also the keys from cdkeys are not 100% officially licensed, they will still work and there is no way for steam(or in this case bethesda or whoever) to figure it out and delete your game or anything,it's just something to consider on the ethical side.

This is actually one of the early reveal games of the current Humble Bundle Monthly.

I thought this game was Subscription based, but after reading the Steam page it says no Monthly fee required.

For twice the price I'd do the HB for at least this month. You'll also get Quake Champions (EA) plus whatever other games get revealed this Friday.
If they're not something you're interested in you can also trade them, usually a pretty good market for that.

So is ESO not subscription based? Last I checked it was, or maybe I misread something.

It's not subscription required anymore. There still is an optional sub that's gets you access to all content, an unlimited crafters bag, and gives you crowns (their cash shop currency).

Basically if you want to try out there's no need to sub. If you love it and spend most of your time playing it you will want the sub.

Honesty for that price is probably worth giving it a go.

I'd consider the $12 Humble Bundle deal, but I don't like auto-renewing, recurring charges that could be difficult to cancel. Does the $12 bill every month with the 2nd one being 30 days after you sign up, or does it bill again when the next game cycle comes out (3 days from now)?

If you do the Month by Month deal you have until about a week before the release to cancel.

For this current Bundle that comes out Friday, my charge kicked in last Friday.

You also get access to the Humble Vault as long as you are considered a "Subscriber", which has a couple dozen of DRM games.

There is also a 10% discount on Humble Store purchases for Subscribers.

They also let you skip a month then it goes back to auto billing the next month, if say you don't want the main game(s) offered for that month.

Is there any real difference in playing the steam version or non steam?

Did some searching of what I could find available and looks liker a slight majority thinks you should skip the steam version. No real problems other than occasional game updates and related changes that some players have problems on the steam side. Amazon also has it on sale at the moment so I'll use my digital credit there.

This is $10 on steam. I played it on PS4 when Tramriel Unlimited first came out, but wasn't a huge fan of the console controls and ditched it. I'm thinking about getting it again for some good, mindless grinding on my PC.

Is the gold edition worth it? It's also on a steam sale for $30.

From my research, gold edition gives a mount and about half the DLC permanently, so at this price seems pretty good. Can then do a cheap Morrowind upgrade if you want. Can also buy direct for same price if you want to skip steam for this.
